Techniques in plating have evolved over the years and now the process of electro-plating is used. Items are placed in a tank containing a silver salt in liquid form and an electric current is passed through the tank causing the silver to be deposited upon the object in question. Afterwards, the object would be machine polished to remove any uneveness or blemishes caused in the plating process.
