If they are sneakers with a leather toebox stuff them with garbage bags firmly until it looks like there are no creases, then wet a towel and get an iron, after the iron has heated up place the wet towel on the spot were the crease are and iron ontop of the towel, steam should come off and when your done the creases should be gone.
you would not hurt the leather by using olive oil or canola oil and let a small coat soak in the leather over night and wipe off to use the shoe and not get oil on your feet

Biking shoes are nice, but not necessary. Bike shoes have a rigid sole, unlike other shoes. The rigid sole allows for a smooth transition and the peddles will not cut into your foot. They are definitely more comfortable than cycling with regular shoes.
