I think the best would be to put corners and edges together first,(work your way inwards) then either-
-If the puzzle is mostly the same color---> Look for larger shapes and pictures and put them together.
-If the puzzle is full of larger pictures or different colors---> Sort into piles what peices are similar, from there try to put them together (Dont force!!!!)
Also, LOOK AT THE BOX OFTEN IT REALLY WILL HELP!!!!
