We don't have a teacher who only teaches reading. In l'école primaire the teacher is called 'un instituteur' or 'une institutrice' who teaches reading, writing, maths, physical education etc etc.
Schoolchildren address their teacher as 'madame / mademoiselle / monsieur'. In the family circle, they call her or him 'la maîtresse' / 'le maître'
