Equivalent to most 'past participles' used as adjectives in English, there are conjugations of the equating Japanese verbs. Meaning, if you want to say e.g. 'I am worried' it would be 心配している /shin pai shi te i ru/ but if you want to say same thing about the past, like 'I was worried' it would conjugate to past as 心配していた /shin pai shi te i ta/. Note that persons are irrelevant in Japanese conjugation so whoever you want to use as the subject of 'worrying' it would be the same.
