Strictly speaking you don't. Food poisoning is caused by toxins already present in a piece of food. These toxins can't be passed on - short of regurgitating the food and giving it to someone else!
However, if you have caught a bacterial or viral infection from food, you may pass that infection on to others or other food via your saliva, vomit or feces, or if your hands still contain traces of the tainted food itself.
This is why hygiene is so important to dealing with food, whether preparing it or eating it, and especially important if you are sick to avoid infecting others. You can remain infectious for several days after symptoms pass.
Food poisoning will show up almost immediately upon eating "bad" food - because the toxins are already present and make you sick straight away - while food-borne infections take a while to multiply in the body before producing symptoms, typically 12-72 hours.
It is possible to pick up the germs from food poisoning and spread it around. Hope this helps! :)
