Cannot find reference to a Model cc 550. Perhaps 650, which would be a Marlin Model 55.
Marlin mdl 70 is the answer << This was/is the correct answer. The CC440 does appear to be the Marlin/Glenfield 70 as stated earlier. .

Pretty close. The CC440 was the version made for and sold by Coast to Coast stores. It has a slightly different sight, wood is a little different.

I to have this gun and yes it is the same to take apart. I guess the gun was made only one year and that was in 1979.
