Goldfish do not get pregnant. They lay their eggs scattered about the tank or pond and then the male goldfish will try to fertilize them with sperm. This includes all types of goldfish from Oranda, Lionhead, Koi, Common, Shubunkin, Ryukin, Fantail, Veiltail, Comet, Ranchu, Black Moor etc.

Any strange behaviour exhibited by your goldfish may be related to the female being egg bound, but this is not a common occurrence. If your fish is floaty, it's a swim bladder issue, if it's laying on the bottom with clamped fins, or tilting sideways, it's a water quality problem.

A koi cannot become pregnant. They lay eggs. A female koi is verv fat, especially when full of eggs. This is usually in the summer. They also tend to have shorter noses. The males develop white spots called gill tubericules when they sense it is time to mate. However, one can know that the female is full of eggs by ligtly rubbing her sides towards her anus. DO NOT SQEEZE THE FISH!! Eggs will come out. Really the best sign is that the males are chasing her all over the place and smashing her into the sides of the pond. BE VERY CAREFUL! i have a tank full of fish at home and many of them are carp fish. Lately we've seen a female carp fish with an enormous stomach and its so heavy its weighing her down.

Because its weighing her down shes scraping her self at the bottom of the tank. i personally dont think that this is just because shes fat i know its because shes pregnant but how and when is it going to come out?
