Naturally, male kangaroos (bucks) have male reproductive parts, and females (does) have female reproductive parts.

Apart from the obvious, however, only the female kangaroo has a pouch and mammary glands for suckling the young. Males tends to be larger, stronger and more territorial.

Among the red kangaroo species, males can be a strong brick-red colour or a pale red. It has been observed that, in the eastern part of the range of the red kangaroo, females are likely to be more grey in colour, whilst elsewhere within their range both males and females tend to be reddish-brown.
