How do you tell your parents that you are a vampire?

Try this; use it as a script if you need to:

"Mom, Dad, we need to talk."

At this point you may see the beginning signs of fear and panic in your parent's eyes. Keep going.

"I have a very serious issue that I need to share with you." You may note anxiety creeping in, and your mother may begin to cry, your father too perhaps, but don't be dissuaded.

"Some time ago, fairly recently actually, I noticed that I am different." Your mother, perhaps both parents may be crying loudly at this point, maybe even whimpering or wailing. Don't stop, you are in the home stretch.

"Frankly, I am a creature of the night, a Nosferatu." The crying may stop suddenly at this point, and your parents may begin to display signs of confusion. Finish it off.

"I am a vampire." At this point, you have let the blood-sucker out of the box, so there is no turning back. You have told them, so you have nothing else to say. Your parents may begin encouraging you, in fact, to say nothing more. If so, do as they suggest.

Your dad may immediately get up and reach for the phone book. Just be patient. Should he do so, he will reach for the phone next and make a phone call. Shortly afterward, some very nice people may show up to take you for a short ride to a very calm place, or your parents may simply drive you there themselves. Do not be afraid. Do as the doctors there instruct you, take the medication they give you, cooperate with the individual and group therapies they schedule for you, and one day, you may still become a productive member of society.

Seriously, vampires are creatures of fiction and folklore. They do not exist and you are not one. If you truly believe that you are, this could be the sign or symptom of a moderately serious mental illness or chemical imbalance. Get the help you need to correct what ever needs to be corrected. Continuing to delude yourself is not healthy, and you do need to let your parents know what is happening.

Being honest and direct is important. Find a calm moment to have a private conversation with your parents, explain your feelings and experiences, and share information about your identity as a vampire. Give them time to process the information and be open to answering any questions they may have.
