Signs of an infected piercing
Redness, discharge of green puss, swelling, tenderness and possible warm to the touch. The quickest way to resolve an infected piercing is to irrigate the piercing under warm running water while moving the jewellery back and forth through the piercing allowing the water to rinse the jewellery off. If you are using after care products to clean your piercing cease using all of them (this way we can find out if the aftercare product is causing the problem). Irrigating the piercing twice a day under warm water while moving the jewellery will rinse the puss and other matter out of the piercing. Once you have completed the rinsing, dry the piercing with clean tissue and leave it alone, don't apply anything else to the piercing. This should resolve and infected piercing within 24 to 48 hours.
The most important thing is not to take the jewelry out!
Wash the piercing with a mixture of sea salt (1/4 teaspoon) and warm water (1 cup) once a day, any more will cause further irritation. Make sure you wash your hands with an antibacterial soap before you clean the piercing, allow it to air dry afterwards. I have found that using a Q-tip works best, its small and can be easier to work around the jewelry than a cotton swab.
Try to avoid antibiotics unless the infection becomes severe. Instead, take lots of vitamin C and zinc, it will speed the body's healing process.
Soak it in a mixture of warm water and natural sea salt. Put a pinch of natural sea salt in a shot glass of warm water. Soak it for 5 mins 2 times a day. If you wear headphones alot( esp in-ear ones) you could ask for a flat back labret post. Rings make it really uncomfortable to wear headphones. But, rings wouldn't get caught on your hair so much. Headphones only annoyed my ring for the first 2-3 weeks.
Infection can be prevented with any piercing by using sterilized tools and cleaning the area thoroughly prior to piercing. Once the tragus is pierced, the area should be cleaned about two or three times a day with a cotton ball and the suggested cleaning solution. Once possible, the piercing should be spun during cleaning and should not be unnecessarily touched after dry.
surgical spirit every couple of hours until its cleared up :)
works a treat
Go see a doctor. If its really infected, they'll prescribe some antibiotics to help clear up the infection before it gets worse :)
The opposite of the piercing, tragus ~ anti tragus, eyebrow ~ anti eyebrow.
There is not straight or gay side for a tragus piercing, it's just a piercing and doesn't denote sexual orientation.
Depending on the severity of your piercing, you may need to see a doctor. Visit the place that did the piercing to see what they advise. If your issue is serious or if you have an infection, go to the doctor.
I have had my Tragus pierced on both ears, and went swimming almost right after getting the piercing. Mine was fine.
YES it is ...I have an industrial and it is on the cartilage and my cousin have the tragus and she started crying and her pain tolerance is better then mine the tragus huet much more because it is more cartilage in it then on a cartilage piercing
The tragus piercing has a smaller cartillage when pierced while the rook piercing has a bigger cartilage. So rook has to be the much more painful type of ear piercing.
Only if the person doing the piercing is a complete idiot, but generally there is no danger to eyesight from a tragus piercing. Please be sure to see a professional body piercer for this piercing and not some joker with a piercing gun.
16 :)
Tragus piercing is not illegal however it is a piercing that can not and should not be done with a piercing gun. As with all body piercing this should be left for a professional body piercer to handle in a licensed and inspected facility. The tragus is a technically challenging piercing that must be done in a controlled manner, serious permanent injury can be done if this piercing is attempted by individuals who have no training or knowledge of human anatomy. Piercing guns are restricted to use on the ear lobes only under Health Canada Guidelines for infection and disease control, they were never designed nor intended to be used on ear cartilage. This piercing is to be done by a Professional Body Piercer only.
Yes a straight guy can get a vertical tragus surface piercing without looking feminine. A lot of straight men have them.
