you cant ?i dont think Answer (Contrablue)

If the nail is made of iron or steel (an alloy of iron with a bit of carbon and usually certain metals such as molybdenum or chromium), it can be magnetized by rubbing it against a magnet. That is the easy and cheap way to turn a nail into a magnet.

A more expensive way is to use a machine that subjects the nail to a strong magnetic field. This can turn the nail into a reasonably strong magnet. However, most of us don't have access to such a machine.

Why is a nail attracted to a magnet?

The nail is made of non-polarized iron. and doesn't repel either side of a magnet. A magnet has two poles and will repel another magnet with the same pole (north repels north, south repels south). Since the nail doesn't have a poles it doesn't repel either side.

How an iron nail can be made into a magnet using stroke method?

You stroke it with a magnet. That's how you turn a nail into a magnet.

What happens when you rub a nail with a magnet?

Rubbing a nail with a magnet will align some of the magnetic domains in the nail. This will have the effect of making the nail into a magnet. The nail won't be a strong magnet, but it will come away with some residual magnetism. Suggestion: try a simple experiment with a nail and a magnet and some small paper clips to see if this works.

When you touch a magnet to a steel nail the nail attracts steel paper clips. Explaine why this does not happen when you use an aluminum nail?

it wouldn't be magnet to a aluminum nail because the aluminum is not a way of magnet and a steel nail would because steel is a way of magnet.

If you have a a magnet stuck to the nail then a paper clip stuck to the nail then you take the magnet away and the nail in the paper clip are still together why did that happen?

this happens because the magnet has magnetised the nail

If you bring a bar magnet close to the first iron nail can the first iron nail attract and lift a second nail?

What happens if vary/change the distance between the magnet and the nail/s?

is nail gay?

no 1ds nail is a girl magnet

What happens when you hammer a magnetised nail?

It makes all the domains of the magnet jumble up ( they all turn separate ways ) So the nail is no longer acting as a magnet

Can you charge steel with a magnet and can the steel have a temporary magnetic field?

If we take a steel nail and tap it with a magnet in the same way a bunch of times, the magnet will align some of the magnetic domains in the nail. The nail will then have become a permanent magnet. The magnetic strength of the nail will not be great like the magnet that created it, but it will be present and will be permanent. The nail could then be used to pick up iron filings just as the magnet could be used to do that.

How a steel nail can become a magnet?

No it can't become a magnet.

How can a temporary magnet be made from a ferromagnetic material?

Yes, you will create a temporary magnet. EX: if you put and nail next to an iron magnet, the nail will be temporarly magnetic.
