Well, I would recommend contacting Home Depot or Rona so they could send a skilled professional to help replace the water piping in basements using PEX piping. They also offer that service and other services related to this topic, for an incredibly reasonable price.

Even if you have a very high mineral content there should not be enough buildup in a water line, it will be at the hot water tank and the fixtures. If it is the water line replace with pex, it is very cheap and better than copper. Although i agree with the statement above to a certain degree. No!!!! Use either a compression fitting, or what they call a Sharkbite, these things are incredible and will attach PVC, PEX, or copper using the same fitting.
