The first rule for writing symbols for elements is to capitalize the first letter of the symbol. If you observe the Periodic Table, you'll see there is no symbol with a lowercase first letter. The second is that you cannot have more than two letters for a symbol. Although there are symbols with three letters, it is just because the scientists haven't decided it is a real element. Finally, the second letter can't be capitalized (if there is a second letter).
