Christopher Boone is an interesting character in many ways.
Color - He has an aversion to the colors brown and yellow and will not eat foods that are those colors. He is also afraid of and avoids double yellow lines, custard, yellow fever and sweet corn.
Light - Christopher likes when its dark outside because he likes the stars and imagines (dreams) of becoming an astronaut because he likes being alone all by himself with no one else near him. In space he would be very far from anyone else.
Christopher hates yellow and brown because they are associated with being dishonest. He believes these colors are used for certain things that are supposed to be another way. In his mind, they represent things that are not true or reliable.
RED
and he hates yellow and brown
He doesn't
Christopher hates yellow because of custard, bananas, double yellow lines, yellow fever, yellow flowers (which give him hay fever), and sweet corn (because humans donβt actually digest it). He hates brown because of dirt, gravy, wood (because wooden machines used to rot), and Melissa Brown (a classmate who tore one of his paintings in two). Mrs. Forbes, one of the teachers, told Christopher that it was silly to hate yellow and brown. Siohan, on the other hand, said that everyone has favourite colours. Christopher thinks they were both a little right, because itβs silly to hate colours, but itβs good to have something like colours to base your decisions on when it comes to food and fashion. He likes it when people choosing what they want from an unfamiliar restaurant menu simply based on the foods they generally like and donβt like. Christopher exhibits some perspective on his own rules, since he admits that his hatred of yellow and brown is somewhat illogical. At the same time, he proves that there are common practices that are somewhat illogical, and he simply approaches his preferences from a colour perspective, rather than from one of taste or name.
Colors are used symbolically in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time to represent Christopher's emotions and perceptions. For example, red represents his fear and anger, while yellow signifies his curiosity and sense of order. The colors help readers understand Christopher's complex inner world and sensory experiences.
Think about particular objects *cough* maybe color involved*cough* that had a profound effect on Christopher.
