The first clue is in her name. Estella brings to mind thoughts of stellar- meaning stars. This conjures up the idea of her being beautiful, but cold, distant and untouchable. This is reitterated in her actions at the start of the novel where she is heartless and arrogant.

However, later in the novel she comes to love pip, and her heart is seen as she weeps for Miss Havisham.

Estella is a rich bachelorette's, Miss Havisham's, adopted daughter. Pip, the main character, has a major crush on her. Estella is raised to be cruel and heartless, so she is cruel and proud to Pip for most of the novel. She explains that she is heartless and acts it to everyone.

She is the biological daughter of Magwitch, the escaped convict who makes a fortune in America, which he uses to support Pip as a gentleman. Her biological mother is Mr. Jaggers' maid. Mr. Jaggers is a lawyer who is in charge of the agreement between Magwitch and Pip until Magwitch reveals himself. Until then, he is Pip's guardian.

Estella is a snobbish selfish girl who has been taught to mock and hate men. She was adopted by Miss Havisham and was always very rude to Pip. But at the end of the novel, she talks nicely with Pip and is remorseful for how she has acted!

she is first described as a 'young lady' with a 'clear voice' and she is 'very pretty and seemed very proud'. She acts very superior to all around her. Throughout the book there is no physical description of her appearance, only her mannerisms and characteristics.

Hope this helps!
