Whether Hamlet runs around the throne room is a matter for the director to decide. There are no stage directions or lines which require him to do so. It can be a good call. When Keanu Reeves played Hamlet (yes, I was there), you only noticed him when he was running around like a maniac; at all other times everything and everybody else on stage became much more interesting than Hamlet. In that particular case, running around did make him seem more insane.

How about: Sanity, or Insanity, That Is the Question in Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Your going insane,

The degree of relationship between Hamlet and Ophelia is quite unknown to the reader, although it is somewhat suggested in the text that they were, in fact, together. This subplot shows that when Hamlet pretends to be - or actually does become - insane that it effects Ophelia on a very deep level. The rejection Ophelia is given by Hamlet sends her into insanity - and in the end suicide. This is an aspect of irony, something Shakespeare liked to use in his work. By pretending to be insane, Hamlet causes Ophelia to actually become insane - a type of casualty caused by Hamlet's need to know the truth about his father's death.
Polonius plans to tell Claudius. Polonius believes that it is love that is driving Hamlet insane.

Shakespeare leaves the madness of Hamlet to the mind of the audience; you can read it either way. If he is mad (as in "insane"), it is a madness with a purpose. At any rate, it would be a curious sort of madness that depended on the winds.
"it means that although some chaos is going on in whatever the situation, someone is planning it, or here was a plan behind it" The above is incorrect. This is a Shakespeare quote spoken by Polonius to young Hamlet. In this scene Halmet is acting mad and while spurting "insane" words, he succeeds in slipping in insults toward Polonius. He is essentially pointing out that although Hamlet appears mad, he can tell that he was previously mocking him amongst the seemingly insane words. Because it is spoken by Polonius and not Hamlet, there is no intended underlying meaning. It means simply that he acknowledges he's been insulted amidst an "insane" rant. For those of you who wish to take it out of context and bring meaning to it, so be it; however, it's actual meaning is simply this.
A small village; a little cluster of houses in the country.
Juggalo (Insane Clown Posse Fan)
