Because the United States was founded by English-speaking people! If you went to a completely uninhabited island, settled it and formed a government, and eventually people who spoke languages other than English immigrated to your island, how would you feel if the language of one of those immigrant groups became the official language?
Usually, gibberish refers to speaking so fast that other speakers of the same language don't understand it.
I don't know an actual percentage, but as my family are Maltese I travel there a lot. A lot of the locals speak English as it is a touristy place. With me there has never been any problems with speaking to people as children learn it from a very early age. The older generation however aren't every good with English, I feel.

i think its terrible. we should learn other languages. there are other people in this world that speak other languages, and we should know how to communicate with them.

A beaner is an insulting term for an illegal alien, usually from Mexico, but they could be from any Spanish speaking country or territory. People prone to insulting groups of other people don't really care where they've come from as long as they feel the appropriate sense of power by insulting them.
In my opinion it does! Every other country has its own language and the residents of the US should all agree that it would make things a lot easier and a lot more friendly if everyone spoke the same language. Living in New York City, I see people speaking a LOT of different languages, and I know that i feel resentful when I go someplace where no one speaks English.
