Opana is a sustained-release form of hydromorphone, which is a more powerful adjunct of morphine. Because Opana is in a time-release formulation, ostensibly you can't abuse it the way you can with other forms of hydromorphone, most notably dilaudid. It is VERY important that you understand hydromorphone is, again, MANY times stronger than morphine, which itself is many times stronger than street heroin.
Also, there is no other active ingredient other than the narcotic itself in Opana. This is unlike Percocet, which in addition to the narcotic Oxycodone, also contains acetaminohpen. Oxycodone, while a strong narcotic for most people, is still not nearly as strong as hydromorphone. This is NOT to say that one can get away with being careless with Percocet, because you certainly cannot. However, I outline the difference between the two narcotics because, even though there are serious risks in abusing either medication, abusing any form of hydromorphone does, in my opinion, carry an even greater risk than that posed by abusing Percocet. But keep in mind, abusing either drug is a very dangerous proposition, indeed. THIS ANSWER IS FOR THE MOST PART CORRECT, BUT--- OPANA's generic name is: oxymorphone HCL also know as NUMORPHAN. hydromorphone is commonly brand name DILAUDID. And yes Percocet/Percodan is: oxycodone...... Just to clarify.... Thank you.....
Oxycontin is oxycodone. Opana is oxymorphone. As a ganeral rule, Opana is twice as strong as Oxycontin.
Oxycontin is oxycodone. Opana is oxymorphone. As a general rule , Opana is twice the stregnth of Oxycontin i.e.; a 20mg Opana would equal a 40mg Oxycontin.
no
Opana is it's own drug called (oxymorphone) which is a mix of percocet and morphine
Yes Opana Er is stronger than percocet and it last's longer
dosage
Yes. Percocet exists, and Percaset is a common misspelling of Percocet.
what is the difference between percocet and fiorocet?
The biggest difference is that Dilaudid is a synthetic opiate, whereas Percocet (Oxycodone and Tylenol combination) is a natural morphine derivative. Percocet is also generally stronger on the opiate scale.
just put on a new pain killer called zanaflex 4mg ,was wanting to know if has the same effect as percocet
That's basically like asking what the difference is between beer and Budweiser. Oxycodone is the active pain-killing ingredient in the Percocet brand name drug.
Percocet helped with pain but xodol is not. so what is the difference between those two.
Percocet has the addition of acetominophen in it, Roxi is just the oxy without the acetominophen.
Yes, they can tell the difference between the two, although the two drugs are similar they do have different ingredients that can be tested for.
