Best Answer

Venus actually appears yellow, due to sulfuric acid and carbon dioxide clouds all over its surface.

However, when a photo is taken with an ultraviolet filter Venus does appear blue.

See related links for a picture of a blue Venus and a picture of Venus in real colour.

When I look at Venus in a telescope, it’s bright white/blue.

I thought they were purple. A violet colour is a purple colour.

^^^ Actually, violet is a unique color (wavelength of light) whereas purple is a combination of the two colors red and blue. The name of the color violet comes from the name of the Viola genus of plants, which range from violet to blue, yellow, white, and cream.

Violets that appear blue reflect blue light because of anthocyanin (literally "flower blue") pigments in the petals.

No. The planet Venus appears white from space due to thick clouds of sulfuric acid. The planet known for its blue color is Neptune.
