Hi
I'm only 16 but I've been researching it a lot. It's basically like a giant lightning rod. As the rocket travels upward a thin wire is stretched out below. This causes the lightning to be attracted to the rocket and strike it, and since the wire is connected to the ground it travels through the wire to the ground.
Heat lightning is a term used to describe lightning that can be seen from a distance without hearing thunder. It is usually from a distant storm and is not directly associated with the thunderstorm you are observing. Regular lightning produces thunder because it is closer to you, and the sound of thunder travels slower than light, causing a delay between the flash of lightning and the sound of thunder.
When a volcano erupts, it releases many gasses into the air, but most of it is water vapor. Other gasses include CO2 and hydrogen. Also an interesting side note, if you Google "volcanic lightning" you will see that the lightning produced by volcanoes is a different color than regular lightning. This is because lightning is produced within the different gasses (other than oxygen, which is blue lightning).
Different types of lightning can reach temperatures of up to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which is hotter than the surface of the sun. This extreme heat is generated by the rapid movement of electrical charges in the atmosphere during a lightning strike.
If you see lightning but don't hear thunder, it means the lightning is far away. The speed of light is much faster than the speed of sound, so you usually see lightning before you hear the associated thunder.
While lightning produces very high temperatures, the amount of air it heats is fairly small. In most cases a bolt of lightning is a few miles away, too far away to feel the heat. People have felt the heat from lightning, but only when it struck dangerously close.

Sheet lightning and heat lightning are descriptive terms rather than scientific. Sheet lighting is cloud to cloud lightning that is viewed from such a distance that there is no sound. Heat lightning can be either cloud to cloud or cloud to ground at same distance with the added element of color tinting from atmospheric particles as with a sunset.

Recessed lightning is different from other lightning because it addresses the need for more lighting. There are several different types of recessed lighting and each are for a different use. Such as task lightning which adds more lighting to an area such as over a sink.
Yes, quite different. . . . .Temperature is used to measure heat.
When a person gets hit by lightning, they are struck by the lightning bolt itself rather than the heat or electricity radiating from it. The current typically enters the body at the point where the lightning makes contact, such as the head or shoulders, and travels through the body to the ground.
HD car radios are no different than regular radios, other than their more complex decoding hardware.
A regular pentagon is both equiangular and equilateral.
