I am not a vet, but have a little experience

I was in a similar situation myself, i adopted a puppy from the the human society last week. once I got her home she became ill and i was preparing for the worst (pirvo). pirvo is a serouris and smoetimes deadly virus that attacks the stomach, and doesnt stop until they die of starvation( that is why immedate attion is required, the sooner the better) Pirvo, being i virus has a incubation period before becoming active. Most test including the one my human society gave my puppy can only detect the virus if it is active. This is probably what has happened.

What agencies offer beagle adoption?

Beagles can be adopted from any national, state or local agency offering pet adoption, such as the ASPCA, Humane Society or PAWS. Adoptions can sometimes also be done through a pet store such as Petco or PetSmart in conjunction with a local shelter. If no beagles are available, local and national breed-specific rescues do exist, but their rules and standards can extremely strict and often prospective adopters fail to qualify. It is best to check the rules and procedures for these groups thoroughly before beginning the application process.
