A typhoon forms over warm ocean waters, typically above 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit). As the water evaporates, it creates a low-pressure area, leading to the formation of thunderstorms. If conditions are favorable, with low wind shear and sufficient moisture, the thunderstorms can organize and develop into a tropical depression, which can then intensify into a typhoon as wind speeds reach 119 kilometers per hour (74 miles per hour) or more.
In their infancy a typhoon begins as just a tropical thunderstorm. Moisture from the ocean is then pulled into the thunderstorm by its strong winds. Moisture is then converted into heat, which then forces the air to move into the middle of the storm which leads to evaporation. The heat that is created from all this then flows into the eye of the thunderstorm and a typhoon is created.

The cause of Typhoon Cosme in the Philippines was the warm ocean waters combined with the presence of a low-pressure system. These factors created the ideal conditions for the formation and intensification of a typhoon. As a result of Typhoon Cosme, the Philippines experienced heavy rainfall, strong winds, and flash floods, leading to damage to infrastructure, loss of lives, and displacement of people.
A super typhoon is a typhoon with sustained winds of at least 150 mph.
The center of a typhoon is the eye of the typhoon. Also known as The Eye of The Storm.
