Usually enzymes have the role to catalyse a reaction. That means they aren't changed at all, but they influence the mechanism to reduce the activation energy (the energy needed for the reaction). The reaction is therefore performed more easily.

To put it very simply: It speeds up a chemical reaction.

Enzymes are shaped proteins, normally produced by organisms to catalyse chemical reactions. They function in a similar way to chemical catalysts, by lowering (or occasionally raising) the 'activation energy' for a specific reaction, and are not used as a reactant. oweing to the nature of enzymes, as proteins, they function optimally at a set temperature and pH, as their presence outside these conditions is often to the detriment of the protein structure, or instead, in the case of low temperatures, slows the reaction and frequently fails to meet the activation energy. Enzymes will usually speed up a chemical reaction, and will additionally facilitate it when it would otherwise not occur.

What are enzymes called because they affect the speed of chemical reaction without being consumed?

enzymes are never consumed in a chemical reaction, therefore the answer to your question is that enzymes that affect the speed of a chemical reaction without being consumed are indeed called enzymes.

What aspects of chemical reaction are enzymes known to affect?

Enzymes affect the speed of reactions predominantly. In some instances in which more than one reaction is possible, enzymes increase the speed of the normally slower reaction enough to make it predominate, while the other possible reaction is effectively suppressed.

How does heat affect the enzymes in a chemical reaction?

At excessive temperatures, enzymes usually denature or break down into other molecules, thus failing to preform their specific function.Other than that, heat does not affect enzymes much but it does increase the speed of the reaction.

How does an inhibitor affect the rate of chemical reaction?

Enzymes fasten chemical reactions, inhibitors blocks the enzymes and they will not accelerate the reaction.

What aspect of chemical reaction is affected by enzymes?

The reaction rate is affected by enzymes.

How do enzymes affect the way chemicals react?

They lower the activation energy needed to start a chemical reaction.

Which statement best explains how enzymes speed up chemical reactions?

Enzymes lower the activation energy of a chemical reaction.

IS it true that enzymes increase the number of collisions in a chemical reaction?

No that is false. Enzymes do NOT increase number of collisions in a chemical reaction.

What do enzymes change about a chemical reaction?

The Reaction Rate

How do enzymes affect the rate of reaction?

Enzymes speed up a reaction but they are not changed by the reaction. They are a protein molecule that helps other organic molecules enter into chemical reactions with one another but is itself unaffected by these reactions. In other words, enzymes act as catalysts for organic biochemical reactions.

How are enzymes represented in a chemical equation?

Enzymes are catalysts and increase the speed of a chemical reaction without themselves .A chemical reaction can be represented by a chemical equation. An enzyme is a protein that speeds up a biochemical reaction .

How does heat and cold can affect a chemical reaction?

Heat generally speeds up the reaction, while cold will slow it down. The enzymes in the cold are frozen.
