Esophageal tracheal combitube (ETC). The ETC is a double-lumen tube, combining the function of an esophageal obturator airway and a conventional endotracheal airway.
During peristalsis, the esophageal sphincter allows the food bolus to pass into the stomach. It prevents chyme, a mixture of bolus, stomach acid, and digestive enzymes, from returning up the esophagus. An overly loose esophageal sphincter leads to heart burn because the stomach acid "burns" the esophagus. An overly tight esophageal sphincter is known as achalasia and leads to pain on swallowing, regurgitation of food, and cheat pain.

A combitube is a duel cuffed endotracheal airway used for blind endotracheal intubation. This item is usually used in the prehospital setting. The simplicity of placement is the main advantage of the combitube over endotracheal intubation. When intubating with a traditional endotracheal tube, care must be taken to ensure that the tube has been placed in the trachea, and not the esophagus. The dual-lumen design of the combitube allows for ventilation to proceed regardless of where the tube ends up. If the tube is placed into the esophagus, ventilation is provided through one tube, and if it winds up in the trachea, ventilation is provided through the other tube.
Because the muscles that cause food to be pushed down your esophagus are partially connected to your trachea. When the esophageal muscles contract, they also cause the tracheal muscles to contract. Causing bronchospasm. I have asthma and this is a p.i.a. It's why I eat only twice a day.
Tracheal rings in cats are in the form of a c shape. A cats tracheal rings are made up of multiple layers of cartilage.
The tracheal rings of the fetal pig are complete, not incomplete circles. The tracheal rings help to keep the airways open.

Esophageal means pertaining to the esophagus.
Esophageal (oesophageal) is an adjective and so does not have singular and plural forms.
Yes this is an option that is available. When using an airway device referred to as a Combitube you can provide airway management, artificial breathing, and access to the stomach.(for pumping it) The combitube is simply two tubes glued together that gets stuffed down the throat. The only caveat for pumping the stomach is that the holes in the combitube are somewhat small and no chunks bigger than about half a green pea would fit. This is all assuming that you purposely placed the combitube into the esophagus instead of the trachea.
Insects breathe by tracheal structure. The reason insects breathe with their trachea is because they do not have lungs.
