As long as the place you go to is using clean needles, and you take care of your piercings, they shouldn't have any affect on your health. Piercings can become infected which can affect your health but are curable. Lip/labret/monroe piercings can rub against your teeth/gums which can cause erosion which is not reversable which is something to look out for.

Anyway body piercing won't do you any good, but it may harm you.
