Sunlight that travels from the sun, through the Earth's atmosphere and reaches the Earth will heat up the Earth, including the atmosphere.

Carbon Dioxide then will act like a blanket to all this heat, keeping it from being expelled out of Earth's atmosphere and into space.

That is the effect a greenhouse has with moderating the temperature for the incumbent vegetation.

When carbon dioxide levels increase in the atmosphere what happens to global temperatures?

When greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide increase in the atmosphere then the temperature rises. Greenhouse gases capture heat rising from the surface of the earth and prevent it escaping to space.

How can a build up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increase Earth's global temperature?

When greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide increase in the atmosphere then the temperature rises. Greenhouse gases capture heat rising from the surface of the earth and prevent it escaping to space.

What does carbon dioxide do to the Venus's atmosphere?

Just as the earth has naturally-occurring carbon dioxide in its atmosphere, so also does the planet Venus have naturally-occurring carbon dioxide in its atmosphere. Because the concentration of carbon dioxide is so high in the Venetian atmosphere, it has a more considerable greenhouse effect.

How does carbon dioxide act like a greenhouse?

Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, which captures heat rising from the surface of the earth and stops it escaping into space. In the same kind of way the glass in a greenhouse lets in the heat, but stops it escaping into the colder atmosphere outside.

How are gases in the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide like the glass windows of a green house?

They are not exactly like the glass in a greenhouse, but they have the same effect. Greenhouse gases hold the heat in the atmosphere without letting it escape into space.

What is the atmospheric gas that traps heat inside the atmosphere?

Greenhouse gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide and methane.

How does the atmosphere on venus act like a greenhouse?

The atmosphere is very thick because of all the Carbon Dioxide. Therefore, it holds in the sun's heat which is not allowed to escape.

What gas acts similarly to greenhouse gas in its effect on the atmosphere?

Any gas with three or more atoms, like carbon dioxide and methane.

What are some harmful gases and their effect on the environment?

Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide are building up in the atmosphere and causing global warming.

Why it is called green house effect not carbon dioxide effect as it is due to the carbon dioxide?

It's because what is happening is that sun's heat is entering the Earth's atmosphere but not leaving like it's supposed to, kind of like how a greenhouse works.

How does greenhouse gas hurt the environment?

Greenhouse gas hurts the environment by warming up the atmosphere. When Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane are released, they warm up the temperatures, which aids in global warming.

How does the suns energy trapped in the atmosphere?

Carbon in the atmosphere traps it like in a greenhouse.
