What role does gambling play in society?

Gambling can change your life, by losing alot of money, you will be broke/poor, thus not living well. If you win, you can die if they aren't happy about the fact you won(possibility) by shooting you or stuff like that. However, gambling has good sides to it. Maybe you can be the one winning the money and all but I think none of them are pretty good things. It will make you a gambling addicted person, meaning your hands will itch with no gambling (so I heard). Hope this helps!

Its because people find it interesting entertaining and a hobby. But to me personally i don't think its good because for starters it bankrupts you and you may loose your family. I mean whats the pint?

Of course, problem gambling is also a concern. When someone is playing Poker for 16 hours a day, or spending 3 straight days in front of a slot machine, the behavior becomes damaging to that person. Gambling away one's entire paycheck can also hurt an individual or family.
