Magnesium is a highly reactive metal; it is forth in the reacticity series. it is therefore unlikely to occur naturally because it reacts with other elements and substances in the Earth to form compounds. Examples of compounds formed are magnesium carbonate and dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate).

Also its found fretimine, sadomimne and fertayas( welsh name for it )

Magnesium is highly reactive, meaning it will form compounds easily and is more stable in compounds than as a simple element.

This also means that it takes a significant amount of energy to separate it from its compounds.
