It depends on the nail polish. There are three chemicals nicknamed the "Big 3"--formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate. Formaldehyde causes cancer. Toluene causes nervous system damage, and dibutyl phthalate interferes with your hormone system. Those three chemicals are not used to make nail polish anymore, but you may have some made when they were. If you see "Big 3 Free" on polish, the polish was made without them.

∙ 12y agoWell there are ALOT of chemicals in nailpolish. There's this one that prevents your nails from chipping and it's really bad for you. If your worried about it, buy organic nail polish or just nailpolish without certain chemicals. Try not to breath it in to much, I love nailpolish and wear it like every week, but the kind I get has no bad chemicals. Check the ingrediants, it'll say. I honestly dont know the names cuz there long, look them up then watch the nailpolish you use. Hope this helps! :)

∙ 13y agoNo, you can't get cancer from wearing makeup, unless you use makeup as a substitute for sun tan lotion, in which case it's possible to get skin cancer.
