leopen hood of vehicle. The headlamp is in a case that comes out. Headlamp screws in and out of it. Replace, and then put case back in. - Or stop at Auto Store, play dumb and have them do it for you (that's how I found out!

Caution Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury: Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb. Leave the lamp switch OFF until the bulb change is complete. Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass. Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb. Properly dispose of the used bulb. Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children. Raise the hood. Remove the headlamp assembly bolts from the upper fascia support. Slide the headlamp assembly outward enough to release the headlamp bracket tabs from the slots in the upper fascia support. Position the headlamp assembly away from the vehicle body to access the electrical connector. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp assembly. Remove the headlamp assembly from the vehicle. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp bulb/socket. Remove the headlamp bulb/socket retainer ring from the headlamp, by turning counterclockwise. Remove the headlamp bulb/socket from the headlamp assembly.

Drive it into your favorite oil change station and tell them your light is out. Within 15-minutes they'll do the work for you. Last time I needed a bulb changed it cost me about $10 for parts and labor.

there are round caps smaller than a CD on the back of the head lights you remove those to get to the bulbs. You may have to unbolt the fuse panel on the drivers side.

The bulb or the entire housing? The bulb you have to go in the engine compartment. Find where the rear of the bulbs are and you twist or unscrew off the top that holds down the bulb. It's just like taking the top off a 2 liter soda. Then you either pull the bulb out or twist and pull out.

1998 Mitsubishi Montero headlight bulb lamp replacement: Purchase the correct replacement headlight bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the headlight bulb lamp replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).

Standing in front of the bad headlamp, with the hood open, notice the two black tabs sticking up behind the headlamp assembly. These are locks that hold the headlamp assembly in place. Remove the locks by wiggling and pulling straight up. Now the headlamp assembly will drop out the front far enough to twist out the bulb socket to change the bulb. Reverse for installation.
