How does one wai in Thailand?

To be polite. As a greeting. (if someone has other deeper meanings, it would be nice to hear them).

To Wai, place the palms of your hands together as if you were going to prey, now raise them up to your face.

Anyone unsure how high to raise your hands, raise your finger tips to the tip of your nose.

You will commonly see Thais raise their hands very high when they wai, sometimes as high as the forehead, usually such a wai is for their peers, parents, royalty monks etc.
