Osmosis is the net movement of water particles from a area of higher water potential to an area of lower water potential and this does not require any extra energy input like in active transport. Therefore energy is conserved.

Are diffusion and osmosis passive or active transports?

Diffusion and osmosis are passive and do not require energy.

Distinguish between osmosis and diffusion?

The difference between Diffusion and Osmosis is by the process of them diffusing and the outcome such as an example of a sugar cube... In Diffusion Molecules move from high concentration just Osmosis although in the diffusion process of "Diffusion" it uses Kinetic energy and Concentration Gradient while "Osmosis" does not require cells to expand energy, in result Osmosis uses Passive Transport of Water.

Osmosis does not require what?

Osmosis does not require a cell to expand its own energy. Osmosis is a type of diffusion process for water.

Does osmosis require energy?

Diffusion and osmosis both come under passive transport and do not need energy. Both of them are down the concentration gradient.

How do osmosis differ from diffusion?

osmosis is diffusion through a membrane

What are the differences of the processes of osmosis and diffusion?

Osmosis is the diffusion of water.

What are two ways of moving things into and out of cells that do not need energy?

Diffusion and Osmosis

What are the two ways of moving things into and out of the cells that do not need energy?

osmosis and diffusion

What is the difference between active transport and osmosis?

Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane, and does not require the input of energy. Active transport requires energy input.

Osmosis is the diffusion of?

Osmosis is the diffusion of water across the cell membrance

What moves materials through cells from high concentrated areas to low concentrated areas?

Osmosis diffusion, osmosis is with water thrugh a semi permiable membrane, it uses no energy. diffusion is the answer.

What are two forms of passive transport of a cell?

Two forms of passive transport (or transport not involving energy/ATP) are diffusion and facilitated diffusion. Another form is osmosis. Also keep in mind that passive transport is for smaller particles.
