Overproduction leads to more animals competing for the same amount of food, etc. This is where natural selection comes into play and those who are better adapted are more likely to survive and reproduce. Overtime this leads those with the beneficial traits to survive and the others to gradually die off...

More organisms are born, over produced, than can be supported by the resources in the immediate environment. So, a struggle for existence ensues and those variations of organisms best fitted to survive and have reproductive success in this environment we be selected and their genes will be best represented in the populations gene pool.

Natural selection occurs when populations produce more offspring than can comfortably subsist in their niche. Individuals are then driven to compete, directly or indirectly, for resources and mates. This competition leads to natural selection.

What is the role of the natural selection in evolution and what role does it play in environmental science?

Natural selection is the changing of organisms gradually over time. Natural selection and evolution are parts of environmental science due to them being the studies of organisms.

Describe how natural selection is related to organic evolution?

Organic evolution is the process by which the genetic makeup of a species changes over time. There are several mechanisms by which this can happen: natural selection, genetic drift (chance), migration and mutation. So natural selection is one possible way in which evolution can take place. Most biologists agree that natural selection is the most important mechanism of evolution. This mechanism was first discovered by Charles Darwin and, independently. by Alfred Wallace.

Are new alleles made by natural selection?

No - natural selection does not create new alleles. Variation in alleles needs to exist in the population in order for natural selection to occur. Natural selection will involve the change in allele frequencies over time, but it does not create new alleles. New alleles are the result of mutations.

Which is more likely to be true natural selection or evolution?

Evolution, of course. Evolution can happen without natural selection in some cases; drift, flow. Generally though, natural selection causes evolution and then, by definition, would come first.

How do you use natural selection and evolution in a sentence?

didn't you just do that? or did you mean something else? ... Or........... Over time, the change in a species is called evolution. and. Natural selection helps certain animals in a species survive.

These three ideas seem to run together, so it's important that you are able to distinguish among them. The theory that organisms change over time is evolution. The mechanism by which organisms evolve is natural selection. Survival of the fittest explains how natural selection works.Answer = Natural SelectionThe process of natural selection, of course.
