Religion influences ethics and morality in everyday life. A person who indulgences in the religion of their choice can testify that decisions and crossroads they encounter are a reflection of their religion. So since these people are a participant in culture, their actions and reasoning also contributes to culture and shape the image it is today. Religion impacts culture by questioning, reasoning, and providing alternative solutions to the popular (but not always correct) ways our society functions.
Religion is technically trans-cultural, that is, is works beyond cultural borders as, for example, Christianity in various countries around the world. However all religions are also changed by cultures as further evidenced by the DIFFERENCES in Christian groups within differing cultures world wide.
I recommend you consider the differences between the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and Catholicism (as a Christian example.) Within Islam similar differences can be found between the Arab (Sunni) countries and the Persian (Shi'ite) countries.
Religion affects culture by encouraging folks to love God and love one another, treat folks well, give to charity, and when religion affects individuals, those individuals can influence the culture by being a good example.
Religion is the belief in a God and in the meaning of life. Culture is a set of customs and cultural habbits shared by many people. It is true that sometimes religion can be part of the culture of a country, but that doesn't mean that these two things are the same.
Really, literally the real question is how does religion not influence culture.
