First of all, gay partnerships cannot really be called marriages because the definition of marriage is "the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments and religious ceremonies." Gay partnerships are not marriages. With this established, we can move on. The definition of marriage has been this ever since our creation. This is how God made us to be. Marriage is not just a legal commitment, but also a spiritual one whether you are religious or not. "Changing" the definition of marriage to include gay couples completely takes away the sanctity of marriage by ignoring the fact that marriage is a sacred commitment made in the presence of God, as it always has been. Because God tells us several times that gay relations are a sin, a sinful relationship cannot be seen as holy or sacred in God's eyes. Gay "marriages" are invading upon the age-old commitment of traditional marriage and creating an unholy union.
