One way that teen pregnancy affects our world is it keeps teens in poverty; there is considerable research that the younger a teen is when she has a baby, the more likely she will be to drop out of school or work at low wage jobs; often, the father is not in the picture, leaving the girl to struggle financially. Unfortunately, some celebrities make teen pregnancy seem glamorous, and young girls might think their life too will be as easy as the lives of celebrities seem to be. The media contribute to this image with "reality shows" where teen mothers are paid to become stars on television; these programs are heavily edited and make things seem more exciting than they actually are in real life. While celebrity teen moms have nannies or helpers to take care of the baby, the average teen mom, especially those from poor families, rarely gets that kind of assistance. Teen pregnancy also affects society by bringing another generation of babies into a world where they may not get the support and the attention they need to thrive. Granted, some teen moms are very devoted and try their best to bring up their baby in a positive environment; but more often than not, having a kid when you are young is far more responsibility than the average teen can handle.
