---------- Actually I am living proof that adult permanent teeth (at least my two front ones) do indeed slowly grow as they wear down. When I was a kid, I had an accident that damaged the outer surface of my two front middle lower teeth below the gumline. As I aged, the marks slowly showed higher and higher on my teeth and now I am 61 and the marks have almost disappeared off the top of my teeth. It has taken something like 50 years for the tooth to grow the length of itself above the gumline. If you think of it, as a tooth wears, it must indeed keep replacing itself, otherwise older people would have nothing left of their teeth, just nubs. And this also shows me that indeed my teeth have worn that much in 60 years. I mentioned this to my dentist yesterday, and he as much as called me stupid for suggesting that adult teeth grew. Not possible said he, I must be confused and mistaken.
