There are many ways:

your kidney will hold on to bicarbonate

your kidney will get rid of ( H+) or excrete the extra hydrogen ions through peeing.

What is the medical application of acidosis?

The medical application of acidosis is to rectify the the pH of the blood. There are two main type of acidosis which are respiratory and metabolic acidosis.

If oxygen is not present what happens to blood pH?

There are two ways the body attempts to compensate for a pH imbalance: Respiratory compensation and metabolic compensation. The blood's normal pH is 7.35-7.45. RESPIRATORY: Breathing rapidly (hyperventilation) or slowly (hyperventilation) are ways the body compensates for imbalanced blood pH. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is acts to acidify the blood (lower the pH). Therefore, the respiratory system attempts to compensate for the imbalance: resulting in hyperventilating (deceasing CO2 contained in the blood) during low blood pH (acidosis). Inversely, hypoventilation occurs during a rise in blood pH (alkalosis). METABOLIC: The kidneys produce sodium bicarbonate, acting as a alkaline substance (raising pH). The increased release of bicarbonate increases blood pH. Inversely, the deceased release of bicarbonate lowers the blood pH. If the body cannot adequately compensate for the pH imbalance it becomes is a life-threatening condition.

What is ketonacidosis?

It's Ketoacidosis and it's a type of metabolic acidosis caused by high concentration ketone bodies, formed by the breakdown of fatty acids and deamination of amino acids.

Does fever decrease the metabolic rate of the body to conserve energy?

It decrease the metabolic rate. This is because Metabolic actually produce heat, if you are in fever state, the body will slow down rate of metabolic as less heat will be produced.

What is the body's major metabolic hormone called?

The body's major metabolic hormone is called the thyroid hormone.

In metabolic alkalosis does the PO2 decreases?

The PO2 does decrease in metabolic acidosis, Similarly, there is a decrease in the pH and HCO3 levels. Metabolic acidosis is a condition where the body is producing too much acid.

List some other potential causes of metabolic acidosis?

Metabolic acidosis occurs when the body does not get rid of the build up of acids in the body. Acidosis can occur due to kidney failure, uncontrolled diabetes, alcohol poisoning, and prolonged lack of oxygen.

Examples of acidosis?

Acidosis is high levels of acidity in the blood and other body tissue, occuring when the arterial pH falls below 7.35. The two types of acidosis are metabolic acidosis and respiratory acidosis.

What would cause metabolic alkalosis to slide into metabolic acidosis?

respiratory alkalosis would cause metabolic acidosis

Causes of metabolic acidosis in burns?

Acidosis following thermal injury is common, and is most pronounced on admission. The acidosis is usually compensated by respiratory alkalosis. Acidosis develops within hours after > 30% burns. Has both metabolic and respiratory components. Former due to products of heat-damaged tissues and relative hypoxia.

What is the outcome of ketosis?

Metabolic acidosis

Infer how the respiratory system would compensate for a circulatory disorder?

If there is metabolic alkalosis (high pH in the blood) or metabolic acidosis (low pH in the blood), the respiratory system will compensate by either increasing or decreasing the rate of respiration (expulsion or retention of CO2 to bring the blood pH back to within normal limits).
