Density is the amount of matter in a given volume. The particles in a solid state are tightly packed together, therefore a solid sate would have a greater density then a liquid, and gas. The particles in a liquid state are together, but are able to move and slide by one another. This density is not as great as a solid state. Particles in a gaseous state are spread very far apart, and moving a lot. A gas would not have a large density. The particle theory of matter affects both masse, volume, density, and viscosity.
As a whole, solids are denser than liquids. Of course there are exceptions but that is a general rule you should follow.
If you're having trouble remembering this, then just think of the relative densities of a solid and a gas. Everybody knows that a solid is more dense than a gas right? Well liquid is right between them in terms of physical structure so it makes sense that the solid is in turn more dense than a liquid.
Hope that helps :) First answer I've posted :P
Yes, density just refers to the substance itself, it has nothing to do with the medium it is surrounded by.
The density of air is significantly lower.
The density of air - or most gases - is much less than the density of typical solids and liquids.
Gases have lower densities.
Gases have the highest kinetic energy, followed by liquids, and then solids. -apex
they are compromised.
All I know is that we drink liquids, breath gases, but how does solids help?
I think it would be Gas Liquid Solid
Solids have a definite shape and volume. Liquids have a definite volume, but no definite shape - they take the shape of their container. Gases have no definite volume and no definite shape - they expand to fill their entire container.
The kinetic energy is lowest in solids, higher in liquids, and highest in gases.
Gases
Solids
Gases have the highest kinetic energy, followed by liquids, and then solids. -apex
they are compromised.
Solids have the highest density, followed by liquids and then gases.
particle density
Low density: gases Medium density: liquids High density: solids
you compare it by finding the boiling point firstyou compare it by finding the boiling dick
they all come from water
Solids are usually more dense because solids have a smaller volume than liquids or gases, so the same amount of mass is in a smaller volume, making the density greater.
some solids, liquids and gases are dangers some are not dangers
