Rub a small amount of dish washing liquid onto the stain, let sit for a few minutes and wash. There is a product in the laundry section called 'Gal Friday' and it's American made. It smells like cleaning fluid, but dissipates after washing. It works like magic and there isn't a stain I haven't been able to remove yet.
I have personally only been able to get the stains out by just using them and washing them. I guess after repeated usage and washing it has faded away...I have however found a way to keep the tomato from sticking to the plastic in the first place.......spray the inside of your plastic container with Pam spray or any other of that type spray to keep the tomato from staining. Hurrah!!!!
On several sites I've read that leaving the item in the sun for a full day will work magic. I'm going to try it as soon as the rain stops.
Use a grease cutting hand cleaner (liquid) or a grease cutting dish detergent. Put a little right on the stain, soak it in cold water for 1/2 hour, add more grease cutter soap to the stain and wash and rinse in cold water. If the stain is still there, repeat the process before drying.
shout will get the tomato stains out of your shirts and also soak in hot water
1. Run cold water through the back of the stain as quickly as possible. This will force the stain back out through the fabric. Don't run it through the front of the tomato stain, which will only force it more deeply into your clothing.
2. Rub a liquid detergent into the stained portion of the fabric. Work it into the fabric gently in a circular motion beginning on the outside of the stained area, and working in.
3. If the garment is white, or you have tested it for colorfastness, apply a mild bleaching agent. Possible agents include hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar applied with a sponge. You can also use lemon juice on white fabrics. Rinse well.
4. Repeat with detergent followed by mild bleaching agent until the stain no longer appears.Hold the stain up to the light to make sure it is fully gone.
5. Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray. Allow it to sit for at least 5 minutes while you wait.
6. Wash normally with detergent. Before drying, double-check the stain. Stains that are dryed will often be permanent.
7. If it remains, rub detergent into the tomato stain. Next, soak in warm water for 30 minutes. Rinse well.
Tomato sause stains clothes because the sause sticks to the fibers in the clothes making it stain.
Don't have alex cook dinner.
The stain is produced by the carotenoid pigments from the tomato that are mobilized by being dissolved or suspended in the oils in the sauce. In that form, they will penetrate into the threads of the cloth and resist removal by any but the most aggressive detergents that can emulsify the oils and solubilize the stain. Marinara sauce will stain clothing really well...Never wear a white shirt to an Italian restaurant.
