Well the heart develops and begins beating around week 5 and can usually be detected around week 6 1/2-7. If you doctor doesn't feel that this is an issue then it is probably fine. Sometimes gestational age is miscalculated or the fetus might just be a little behind. If you do not feel that your doctor was concerned when you were, then you might try finding a different doctor. When you call to make an appointment, be sure to explain to the receptionist that you are "X" weeks pregnant, had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat and you would like a second opinion to make sure things are still going smoothly.

Although the heart is beating, it is unusual to actually detect it this early. 8 weeks is a more common time for it to be detected, depending on your doctor's equipment.

When does a baby have a heartbeat? A baby's heartbeat can be detected by transvaginal ultrasound as early as 3 to 4 weeks after conception, or 5 to 6 weeks after the first day of the last menstrual period. Either the pregnancy is not far enough along to see the heartbeat or for some reason the baby stopped developing and the heart stopped beating. Usually this is followed by a miscarriage, if not the doctor may recommend a D&C.
Assuming you mean "first Month" the answer is yes. With a very sensitive pregnancy test some pregnancies can be detected as early as 3 weeks and 2 days; this is the first month of pregnancy. Most pregnancies are easily detected at 4 weeks on the day of your missed period with a early pregnancy test this would technically be the beginning of your second month.
