There are many factors that can affect the focal length of a convex lens. These include: - The thickness of the lens - The type of material that the lens is made ot of - The curviture of the lens - How big the distance between the lens and the image you are viewing is. This is obviously a major factor due to the fact the the focal length is where all the light becomes concentrated and the image becomes clear as pristine.
