How far can a person learn without falling?

Hello- thank you for posting this great question. I am highschooler and I need to know that exact answer for my Science Fair Project. Please e-mail me, or write a comment here so I cna know. My project is due: January 25th, 2008. Thank you and PLEASE respond A.S.A.P.!!!!! Mika May I've learned a bunch of stuff in my life and have never fallen from it. Leaning, however, is a different story. You can lean as far as your center of gravity remains centered then you either have to recenter your weight or you fall. Like when you bend over, you can only bend over so far before falling but if you stick one leg out behind you, you can bend over farther without falling.

How does a parachute know when your falling?

A parachute doesn't "know" when you're falling. It is deployed manually by the person jumping out of an aircraft or automatically by a mechanism that senses the descent speed and altitude. Once deployed, it slows down the person's fall by creating drag, allowing for a safer descent to the ground.

Does falling from a great height kill a person from the impact or from the fright of falling?

The fright of falling may trigger a heart attack or some other form of stress related injury, but those are isolated cases. Upon impact, your bones would shatter, wounding all material around it, causing instant death. I don't know about you guys but i would crap myself.

Why is it useful to know which materials are electrical conductors?

it is useful to know which materials are electrical conductors so if you wanted to make an electric current you could. For example is you where making a circuit you would need to know which materials you could use that would conduct electricity.or if there is something stuck in a power point you know what material to use to get it out without getting electrocuted

Why would metals behave as brittle materials without dislocations?

Metals behave as brittle materials when lacking dislocations because dislocations help accommodate plastic deformation by allowing atoms to rearrange and slide past each other. Without dislocations, stress builds up and results in sudden fracture when the yield strength is surpassed, leading to brittle behavior.
