Low beam headlights typically illuminate the road up to about 150 to 200 feet ahead of the vehicle. This range allows drivers to see and respond to obstacles, signs, and other vehicles in normal driving conditions. However, visibility can be reduced in adverse weather conditions like fog or rain. For greater visibility at night, high beam lights can be used, but they should be switched off when approaching other vehicles.

Low beam lights are designed to illuminate the road ahead without blinding oncoming drivers. They provide a focused beam of light that helps improve visibility in low-light conditions, such as at night or in foggy weather. By directing the light downward and in front of the vehicle, low beam lights reduce glare and shadows, allowing the driver to see the road more clearly and react to potential hazards.

Unless you have fog lights which are specifically designed for the purpose you are better of using your low beam. As using the high beam will tend to bounce light back at you causing you not to be able to see as far into the fog and being less able to discern oncoming objects and lights.Low beam headlights, low beam headlights & fog lights or just fog lights unless its night time.lower headlightsLow beams, fog lights or both. About 160 feet - just about the distance you need if you slam on the brakes for a sudden stop!
if your low beam lights run off a relay, then that might have expired. will need replacing if it has.
