You may want to park at least a feet away from a USPS Mailbox because so the Mail Truck can go around and get next the mailbox. If there is a car or something blocking it then you may not get your mail. Also that is the same thing for if you have a car or something right close to the mailbox.
I have seen the answer given in feet somewhere in the US Postal Regulations but they are a total swamp to try and retrieve information from. If you really want to know that badly you can do the research yourself - try calling your local Postmaster. Suffice it to say that there must be enough room for the motorized carrier to drive up to the box - to serve the box - and to drive away from the box - all without having to leave their vehicle.

Private rural (roadside-type) mailboxes - some locations DO have parking regulations that prohibit this. If they are official USPS roadside (drop off mail from your car-type) boxes, yes, illegal and you can get a ticket. As far as US Postal regulations are concerned. . . they are not required to deliver the mail to an obstructed mailbox.
