Mosquito flightMosquitoes can fly using their wings. On these wings are fringes, which are special scales. In the absence of these features mosquitoes couldn't fly. Near the wing root there is a organ for balancing the flight.

Flies fly because of a small number of flight motions, with wing beats at 120 to 250 times per second, produced by only about 12 flight muscles. A cycle of back-and-forth rotations between forward sweeps and backward sweeps of a fly's wing generates lift. Scientists have much to learn about how flies and other insects fly with a minimum of muscles for flying.
