I read the book a couple of years back but I still remember it like I read it yesterday which in my opinion makes a book really good. When I read it I could put it down I was hooked.

(if you have not read this book WARNING: SPOILER!) Percy found out that Luke was the thief. he found this out because at the end of the 1st book, Luke attacks Percy with a scorpion and basically told Percy that he did everything, from letting the heck hound in to stealing the lightning bolt. he did this because he thought that Percy was as good as dead at that point. of course Percy did live because there are 5 books in that series.

Probably but if you have read the books they have missed some really good parts out so most of the main characters wont exist like Clarisse. Edit: They also reeked havoc on the story, not including Ares, or even mention Kronos, who became the series' main antagonist.
