Prior to the moon landing the United States market and technology was nowhere near what it is today. Since we set foot on the moon the economy has spurred and changed our lives in many ways. 1 Technology has progressed greatly and we use a lot of things in our daily lives that NASA has invented. We are surrounded every day by things developed from space exploration. Advances in medical procedures and even insulation that keeps our homes warm are examples of investments that have been made to improve the quality of our lives. 2 Not only has reaching the moon made amazing breakthroughs in technology but it has also transformed our space communications and deep space navigation into something that no other country has been capable of. The contributions of research and latest technology have enabled NASA to look further into cutting-edge missions. 3 Although the space shuttle program was shut down in 2011 NASA has still sent and received information from space that has been eye opening to approaching aeronautic travel. Rover Prototype's are exploring in Greenland and spacecrafts will visit asteroids that have not been analyzed yet. The International Space Station just celebrated its 10th anniversary of human occupation. Since the first expedition it has been visited by 204 different individuals. Due to the help of the space station there has been a total of 162 spacewalkers. 4 Space explorations are expensive and does cause controversy about continuing the research but it has benefited people in numerous ways. We owe many modern inventions that we take for granted to NASA. Distinct improvements in medicine have been from NASA research. Things like laser technology that created laser eye surgery, smoke detectors that save lives and reduce injuries, and memory foam that is found in mattresses can all be credited to the awesome study that NASA has done. The exploration may be a waste of money to some people, but it can be argued with the products that were developed in the mean time. 5 Scientists from NASA have accumulated more than 6,300 technologies that have routinely become a part of the day-to-day living. There are several things that NASA has done to make our lives more sufficient but the most important are electronics like CAT scanner which detects cancer. The ear thermometer that sends back a temperature in a matter of seconds, invisible braces that straighten teeth in a less embarrassing way thanks to ceramic brackets made from spacecraft materials. Satellite Television which is probably the most common along with the Speedo swimsuit that is bought by a number of professionals have all been created from NASA's exploration and studies. NASA was first started on July 29th 1958 making it fifty-five years old. NASA has also had 136 missions. They have explored Earth, Human Spaceflight, the Solar System, the Universe and Beyond. 6 Since Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon in 1969 our world has changed abundant ways. Things that are done every day, NASA can be accounted for.
