The temperature of the steam in a steam engine will vary as the pressure of the steam. The higher the pressure, the higher the temperature that the steam headers (pipes) will run at. Because pressure varies between steam engines, temperature will vary also. Those temperatures could be from between 300 to 400 degrees on up to 700 to 800 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the actual pressure the boiler is running at.

Toy - Model steam engines typically use much lower steam pressures, and these machines run at 220F to about 250F
